I cannot believe that those words would come out of me after all the crap that I have been dealing with the whole year. Honestly, before stumbling upon this photo, I really haven’t made up my mind about what I really want for Christmas. I was considering gadgets like a new iPod or a Flip Camera, clothes, books, notebooks, pens, usual teen wants, blah blah, yeah you get the idea. On second thought, maybe, just maybe, for the first time in my life I never wanted anything material for Christmas.

Christmas for me was always a happy season because people seem to forget every crap that the whole year has laid upon them. Here in the Philippines, you would be able see an economically poor family (who encounters money problems in the middle of the year) doing whatever it takes to have a Christmas Eve Feast. Christmas Magic, maybe but for me this just reflects how Filipinos consider Christmas as a very important time of the year. Everything seems so happy during Christmas time. I grow up believing in the superficial fact that this so- called joy is brought about by presents in gift boxes, food, money, material things. It is only until my Fifteenth Christmas that I have really felt that Christmas is happy because it is a time where you would be given a chance to make someone happy, to detach something for you to share.

We  expect to receive a lot for Christmas but don’t you think that there would be more to life in Christmas when we actually think of how we could be there for the people who need us?

So right now I”m saying it. I don’t want a new gadget, new clothes, shoes, or other things. I won’t even wish for things to be easier for me. This Christmas, I just want Jesus to bless me with a heart that knows how to love , how to share, and how to give.

Wala lang, just for a change.
